Ettercap

Ettercaps are a monster that can be found in Baldur's Gate I and II, at certain points and in random encounters - particularly when moving between locations in BG1. In BG1 they can pose a significant challenge to parties, as their attacks have a chance to cause a substantial amount of poison damage. In BG2 however, most parties will be able to dispose of them easily.
